Important Run/Walk Information: Please Read

Dear Donate Life Run/Walk Participants,

Because of your participation over the past 17 years, together we have created an incredible Donate Life community at the Donate Life Run/Walk’s (DLRW) home at Cal State Fullerton. We have always placed the safety and care of our participants first. The DLRW has taken place in the rain, wind, heat and all elements…. just as donation happens, rain or shine.

As all of us know, donation requires hope and courage ~ Hope, that someday someone will say yes to save a strangers life and Courage to say yes when a loved one’s family is faced with the opportunity of donation. Donation truly shows the best of humanity.

With all that is happening in our world today, OneLegacy and the Run/Walk Committee have decided for the safety of all recipients, donor families and ALL participants NOT to gather together in one place, but to use technology by holding a "Virtual Donate Life Run/Walk". We are asking our community of Donor Families and Recipients to come together to continue to show the power of courage, hope and donation by joining us on Saturday, April 25th in a "Virtual Walk".

We have the power to show our hometowns, neighborhoods, workplaces and communities the power of donation by continuing this beautiful and meaningful event and bringing something positive into the community. The virtual walk will allow us all to reach far and wide and invite friends and family, no matter where they are located in the country, to join your team and show their support of the mission of organ, eye and tissue donation.

We are currently working on the specific technology details and will be sending more information shortly. Please know that you will not need any specialized technology equipment other than your smartphones or a home computer or tablet to participate in the Virtual Run/Walk.

However, we can let you know now that everyone who registers will receive T-Shirts, Team signs and a tool kit of ideas on how you can conduct your own virtual walk with your family and friends. This kit will be sent via mail to all individual participants and team captains.

All Participants: In order to send out your t-shirts and tool kits we will need to set a hard deadline and will close online registration on April 3rd.

Donor Families: Because we will ship everything to you, we are moving our personalized t-shirt deadline to Friday, March 20th and if the registration is done using the paperwork, we will honor the early registration price of $20 per participant. Online registration will remain $27 with a April 3rd deadline.

Your virtual walk can be as small as you personally walking in your neighborhood or on your treadmill at home, to whatever you feel comfortable making it with friends or family, or maybe even organizing your own neighborhood walk. We are working quickly on ways to upload your photos and videos, to share your walk on our Donate Life Run/Walk Facebook page, as well as your own social media accounts.

We are also proud to bring to you this year the opportunity to have a "Virtual Circle of Life Garden" to set up a beautiful garden created with your own personalization in your own front yard, church, school or workplace, to set up a heartfelt tribute of your loved ones and share it with your community. More information about the virtual Circle of Life Garden will be provided next week.

If you have already registered and are not able to participate with the virtual Run Walk, please consider making your registration fee a donation to the mission of organ, eye and tissue donation. You can also contribute to the fundraising efforts of a participant, team, or to the event.
